Overall, a rather underwhelming experience for a one-hat restaurant. We booked bar seating, but were surprised to find ourselves seated by the window in a high-traffic area where people kept brushing past us. It was quite uncomfortable and not the dining experience we had expected. The wine service was particularly disappointing. The sommelier simply left the bottle on the table and asked whether we wanted an ice bucket. Of course, we did — it was white wine! We expected the wine to be properly chilled and served, not left on the table for us to manage and pour ourselves. The wine tasting experience also lacked proper explanation, warmth and professionalism. The food was average overall, with nothing particularly memorable. We did our best to make the photos look appealing, but unfortunately, the actual experience didn’t quite match the pictures. For a restaurant awarded a hat, we expected a much higher standard of food, service and attention to detail. Overall, it felt rather underwhelming and, in our opinion, didn’t quite live up to the recognition. Fine for a casual meal, but not somewhere we’d particularly rush back to.

Ordered a few plates to share and honestly loved the combination. The Octopus Toast with tomato and chilli oil was probably my favourite, followed closely by the mussels with ’nduja, fried bread and aioli. The seared tuna with anchovy and manchego was interesting too. Added some shoestring fries, then had a Gin Martini and Granite Hills to go with everything. Good food, good wine, and the kind of dinner that makes you want to stay for another glass 🍷🫒

Marion Wine Bar had been on my Melbourne list forever, and I finally got to dine here and wow, it was absolutely worth the wait! We dined on 15/8, just after lunch, and were fortunate enough to get a table beside the kitchen. It was such a great spot to watch the hardworking crew in action and see the care that goes into every dish. From starters to mains, dessert and the wine pairings, I honestly can’t fault a thing. One dish that really stood out was the tuna crudo with yuzu vinaigrette. I never would’ve thought orange zest would work so beautifully with tuna, but it was absolutely mind-blowing! A special mention to the lovely lady who looked after us. I unfortunately missed her name, but she was incredibly helpful with the wine pairing and clearly very knowledgeable. She made the whole experience even better. Overall, FLAWLESS! From the kitchen to the service, you could see how much care went into every detail. It satisfied my curiosity, my craving, and finally ticked one off the Melbourne list! Huge thanks to the hardworking crew at Marion Wine Bar. I genuinely can’t fault a thing.
