The creator recommends it for a matcha drink, praising its refreshing Southeast Asian-inspired ube, pandan and blueberry flavours.
The Ube Matcha had a great flavour combination, was not too sweet, and was well balanced; sweetness can be adjusted.
Their score: 8/10
The creator calls it one of the best matchas they’ve had in Melbourne and says the matcha is high quality. They enjoyed the nutty, umami Morita and the blueberry cheesecake matcha with cheese foam.
I got the corn cream matcha with no ice. The matcha came only half full and they didn’t have any notice on the website that drink volume would be reduced without ice, which would have been much appreciated. The taste was also average with no strong matcha flavour. Also, whilst I understand it was busy, the service was also very average. For $10.5 a drink, it’s just not worth it.
After seeing Kyoto Matcha go viral on tiktok and instagram and me finally finding it at Town Hall, I ordered the Ube Matcha and I LOVE IT! It’s now my new favourite matcha place in the CBD and personally worth walking to the other side of the CBD to get. Can’t wait to come back - will be posting on instagram and tiktok about it.
The drink was okay, but I could barely taste the matcha. If you really want to enjoy the matcha flavour, I’d recommend choosing one of the simpler drinks rather than the fancy menu options. The staff were friendly and polite. However, the waiting time was quite long — at least 15 minutes.
